For the past five years, Mechanical Technology Incorporated (MTI) has been engaged in the development of a Free-Piston Stirling Engine Heat Pump (FPSE/HP) for residential applications. The system consists of a natural gas combustor, free-piston Stirling engine, and a variable-stroke freon compressor.
The P40 was designed by United Stirling to be a reliable workhorse engine for testing and developing specific components (e.g., the heater head, piston rod seals, and piston rings). Because it was intended as a rugged experimental engine, the P40 is too heavy to be a practical automotive Stirling engine.
A variable stroke engine includes a connecting rod having one end thereof connected to a piston via a piston pin. A sub-rod is connected to a crankshaft via a crankpin and to the other end of the connecting rod.
A control rod has one end thereof connected to the sub-rod at a position distal from the position where the sub-rod is connected to the connecting by: The engine is a liter turbocharged four-cylinder that Nissan is calling the VC-T(Variable Compression-Turbocharged). The VC-T engine will allow for the compression ratio to.

Variable compression ratio is a technology to adjust the compression ratio of an internal combustion engine while the engine is in operation. This is done to increase fuel efficiency while under varying loads. Variable compression engines allow the volume above the piston at top dead centre to be changed.
Higher loads require lower ratios to increase power, while lower loads. Harvesting Electrical Power from Waste Heat Using. The Beale number obtained from testing of the engines is also investigated.
free-piston Stirling engine, and a variable-stroke freon. The STM Stirling engine currently under development at Stirling Thermal Motors, Inc. in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, has been specifically optimized for use in solar energy applications.

11 0. Free-piston engine generator (FPEG) provides a novel method for electrical power generation in hybrid electric vehicle applications with scarcely reported prototype development and testing. The variable-stroke axial-piston pump is often used as a part of a variable-speed gear, for for-ward and reverse rotation, such as electro-hydraulic anchor windlasses, cranes, winches, and the power transmitting unit in electrohydraulic steering engines.
In those cases, the tilting box is arranged so that it may be tilted in either direc-tion. THIS IS THE START OF WILL'S STIRLING ENGINE LINKS.

An improved variable stroke internal combustion engine (10) is disclosed. The power stroke and exhaust stroke of the engine are relatively longer than the intake stroke and compression stroke for increased power output from the engine (10).
A connecting rod (40) is pivotally connected to the piston (16) and a trunnion assembly (28). The engine shown is a double-acting steam engine because the valve allows high-pressure steam to act alternately on both faces of the piston. The following animation shows the engine in action.
We are pulling at semantics classifying a turbine engine in the same category as the Otto cycle piston and valve engine. As good as the turbine engine is, it really shines in constant load applications, far superior to the piston engine, but it cannot compare to the piston engine for throttle response and manufacturing costs, necessary for daily driving and private .
